Pat and I went to a cooking class last night with a couple of friends and these photos are of a few of the dishes we prepared.  The featured ingredient was tomatoes!  I love love love tomatoes and every dish was absolutely delightful!  It was a fun night with friends, food, and wine!

This tree reminds me so much of the lilac tree my parents use to have outside their bedroom window.  That smell of lilac when there was a breeze was absolutely heavenly.  I would give anything for a beautiful lilac tree or to be able to smell it's fragrance.  Such a wonderful piece of nature.

I was out walking my dogs tonight and found this baby bird hopping a long side of me.  I think it was trying to fly, but I loved how it didn't seem afraid of me at all.  I just found it so innocent and precious.

This is a close up of my water glass.  I think because water is such an everyday thing, people tend to take it for granted.  Our summers in here Dallas get brutally hot and I consider myself extremely lucky that I can grab an ice cold glass of water whenever I want.  It's one of those small, but big things in life that I find so beautiful.

This was a closeup of my mimosa from brunch yesterday.  It looked so pretty and so refreshing.  It tasted even better too!  A 3-day weekend was a perfect time to enjoy this beautiful beverage!

The first "dog"  love of my life was a chocolate lab named Rex, or Rexbo the Wonder Dog as he was fondly referred to by many friends and family.  This dog I was able to hang out with this weekend reminded me so much of Rex. He had that same sweet face and happy eyes.  I love my two squishy faced dogs, but labs will always have a special place in my heart.

Say hello to my first fresh, cold beer of the summer season!  I realize that it's not technically summer yet, but I always feel like Memorial Day weekend is the official start to summer.  It's a long weekend, it's always hot, and people are out soaking up the sun with a nice and tasty beverage like mine.  Summer is my favorite time of year and this was a great way to welcome it!

This is the balloon and flowers our office got one of the attorneys this week.  She passed the California State Bar!  Not only did she pass what is probably the hardest Bar in the country,  she did it while studying and working at one of the busiest times our office has had in months and she is a mom of two small children.  She is such an inspiration and we are all so proud of her!

Pat and I had an impromptu movie/date night.  We went to see the new Star Trek movie and just enjoyed a fun, action packed movie.  Every now and then we decide to go to a movie or a nice dinner on a whim during the week and it's a nice break in the work week.  I highly recommend it!

This is my house.  It's nothing special or amazing, but at least I have a roof over my head.  After all of the tragedies recently in Texas and Oklahoma, it makes you appreciate what you have.  I have a place to rest my head at night and my friends and family are safe.  That is what is important in life.

These are the white flowers I have been waiting for all year!  They are super delicate and don't last very long, but they make the tree looks so beautiful and lush.  I try and enjoy them as much as possible while they are here.

This is my new food obsession!   Not only is it bright and beautiful to look at, it is beyond delicious!  I use baby spinach, cooked millet, cherry tomatoes, raw hemp seeds, lemon juice, and a homemade raw basil pesto.  The lemon juice, pesto, and hemp seeds make for a light and refreshing dressing over the tomatoes and spinach.  The weather is heating and this beautiful salad is such a great way to end the day.  :)

Concert season has officially started in Dallas.  This is my favorite time of the year.  The weather is hot and humid during the day and slightly cools off at night.   Sitting on the lawn  listening to great music with a cold beer is just the best!

The sky was giving off the most wonderful pink color tonight.  It really felt like summer had officially begun.  It was hot, humid, and the sky was a beautiful shade of pink. My favorite time of the year!

This picture was taken this morning.  North Texas had some severe storms and tornadoes last night that caused destruction, heartbreak, and even death.  My heart goes out to everyone in Granbury, Texas that suffered a loss of any kind.  These clouds are quite beautiful and quite impressive, but they unfortunately carry a sad tale with them.

It was a pretty rainy and dreary day today, so no photos from outside.  So, I decided to take a picture of my dog Ellie.  She is such a striking and interesting Boston Terrier.  Her shape, features, and markings are unlike any other Boston I have ever seen.  She really is a beautiful dog.

It is my wonderful sister Nicole's birthday today.  This picture was actually taken a few years ago, but it is one of my favorites. Nicole and I are different in a lot of ways, but there are definitely similarities with us.  In this photo, we both tried oysters and both had the same horrible reaction.  I love that we are making the exact same facial expression!  I am so lucky to have such a wonderful sister, friend, and mentor in my life.

I love bars and restaurants that serve old fashioned cocktails in old antique glasses.  I specifically love this one because of the shape and the etching on the glass.  It gives the drink so much more character and meaning instead of just throwing it in an everyday glass.  I just found this one extremely beautiful.
